Wiener Sausages Humorously Reimagined As Famous Pop Culture Icons And Paintings

A dark-haired, caped sausage stands amongst mountains, gripping its sword. The caption? “Wiener is coming.”

Two eerie hot dogs donned in pale blue frocks stand stock-still at the end of a long hallway. They are the Grady ‘twieners’ from The Shining.

These, and other sausages, are part of a series called ‘The Daily Wiener’ by pastry chef Erik Vernieuwe, where famous paintings and pop culture icons get recreated using wiener sausages to hilarious effect.

In the series, Beyoncé and Marilyn Monroe are two celebrities impersonated by hot dogs. Paintings like ‘Hot Dog With The Pearl Onion Earring’ and ‘The Birth of Wiener’ also make appearances. For variety, every Saturday is officially ‘Pickle Saturday’, where pickles are modeled after the likes of ‘The Hulk’, ‘Kermit the Frog’, and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’.

Previously, hot dogs also made their debut as Disney princesses.

Take a look at some of the lighthearted photos below, and follow Erik’s project on Instagram.
