1. The origin of the name

The name pumpkin originated from the Greek word for “large melon” which is “pepon.” “Pepon” was changed by the French into “pompon.” The English changed “pompon” to “Pumpion.” American colonists changed “pumpion” into “pumpkin.”

2. The World’s heaviest pumpkin weighed over 2,600 pounds.

It was grown in Germany and presented in October 2016.

3. Over 1.5 Billion pounds of pumpkin are produced each year in the United States.

Each pumpkin has about 500 seeds. Pumpkin seeds are originally planted in Green Houses in April. When they begin to grow in May.

4. There are more than 45 different pumpkin varieties.

They range in color like red, yellow, and green, and have names like Hooligan, Cotton Candy, and Orange Smoothie.

5. A carved Halloween pumpkin.
