Making you phone and computer merge in one

Haven’t you felt that discomfort of being sitting in front of your computer and having to check your phone every time you get a notification? Now we have the perfect solution for that. You can turn your computer into a makeshift smartphone. This is ideal for all of you that get to sit in front of a computer during several hours.

First of all, you have to define which functions and apps do you use the most, like SMSes, phone calls, chat, email, gallery photos and music. Now, we recommend you an all-in-one messenger app called Franz that will allow you to have WhatsApp, Skype, Hangouts and Slack altogether. After installing it, just set up all your info and you’re ready to go. Also, you can silence mail notifications that are not work related. Another option is Rambox that offers even more services than Franz. Pidgin and Adium are good alternatives as well.

To get your SMSes to your computer, you can use MightyText if you’re an Android client. Just install the app on your phone and the matching desktop app in your PC. This way, typing will be much easier and faster. If you’re an Apple user, you can rely on FaceTime and iMessage to do the same but both your iPhone and your Mac must be connected to the same Wi-Fi and iCloud account. If you have both Android and Apple devices you can use AirDroid.

If you’re a fan of movies or ebooks, you can install the desktop version of all your apps for these activities, like Netflix, for example.

There is another function available for your computer that is worth to use; the Do Not Disturb mode (DND). On your Mac, click on the Notification Center icon and take the DND slider to the right. Its equivalent on Windows 10 is the Quiet Hours from the Action Center.

This is not an attempt to make you giving up your phone. We simply offer some interesting tips that may help you to deal with all your communications needs in one device. This can be especially useful when you’re at work and could even ease your life a little bit.
