This week the people in Apple announced the new version of the iPhone SE, the entry level iPhone model from the good old days!
During this very weird 2020 where we are all adjusting to work from home and stay in home due to the Covid-19 situation, Apple didn’t waist time neither they delayed the launching of the entry level iPhone model rumored since late 2019, and while the world is trying to keep going with global lock-down, the guys from Cupertino revealed a revamp version of the hard-to-kill iPhone 8. This time around Apple decided to go ahead with the option of keeping virtually the whole structure and body of the iPhone 8 intact, camera, home button, 4.7” Screen and all but with the added value of using the A13 Bionic Chip used on the iPhone 11 Pro and calling it iPhone SE, giving the old iPhone 8 powerful guts with the perk of a $399 entry level price tag for the base model of 64GB.
With this strategy Apple is aiming on keep the loyal users of the iPhone 8 to upgrade at a sweet spot price of $399 to a virtually same iPhone 8 model but with the brains of the flagship iPhone 11 Pro. Offering the A13 Bioninc Chip on the most affordable model of the Apple iPhone Lineup its a bold move from Apple to continue the focus of keeping the whole range of pricing on the market on check for their users, with Brands like Samsung periodically expanding their line up to lure more users with lower price tag, Apple is definitely raising the bar this time.
The 2020 iPhone SE gets his name from the previous model launched on 2016 and discontinued on 2018, but this time it seems will rocket sales due to the perks of having the newest A13 inside a body that still is the go to option to a great share of the market thar prefer the 4.7” screen size, opposite to the trends of 5.6” new normal of the market.
The iPhone SE keeps the home button and Touch ID, Facial Recognition introduced with the iPhone X is not possible with the 7MP front Camera on this model. Also keeps the 12MP Wide camera of the iPhone 8. Regarding battery life, Apple says “lasts about the same as the iPhone 8”.
